I know crochet. I just need to build up those muscle groups slowly do I don't hurt myself.

It just clicked Saturday morning and I made a smallish squareish thing that will be nice for dish cleaning. So that's single crochet, I'm working on half double crochet, which I mostly get, and double crochet, which I definitely get. I understand working into the same stitch and how to count stitches and gauge is almost a thing.

I also started frogging the Accidental Slytherin and winding the color changes into cakes as I go. So it's slow going, but it'll be nicer when I get ready to actually work it up again.

Diving in with an ambitious project? Me? Of course I will.

Oh dang, tension is still a thing for other people, but I've noticed a bit of improvement in how I get started with a single chain! It's closer to even with only every third or fourth stitch all hecked up! The solid yarn is definitely helping me see right and wrong side and when I'm skipping stitches, but I still have to keep grinding on the skills.

At least we have so many streaming shows I can just set to play and then listen to Gur Fieri go to FlavorTown while I wrangle the yarn. :P No plot to follow, tasty foods when I look at the screen, a goober of a host, what more could I ask for?

I got an early birthday present from my mom! A little book(let?) about How to Crochet (along with a note and some cash, which is super nice and I'm excited to use that on prescription sunglasses). So I picked up the cotton yarn and crochet hooks that have been chilling on the coffee table for a while and started working on that 'single chain to begin a project' thing. What even is tension? How do hold yarn? I'm pretty sure I'm not supposed to be mucking about with how I'm holding everything as much as I am. And then I had to switch from the variegated green-and-white for a solid purple because I am not really good at determining where stitches are yet. So that attempt went slightly better because I could see the front and back of stitches. But tension is a thing for other people still and I skipped several stitches I should have worked so managed to decrease by about a third for the second row.

Well, at least the yarn isn't offended when I rip it out a thousand times and keep trying. :P
