Because of course these children are Brought Up Right, they do not grab at their new friend. They hug and hang on and shove and ruffle the hair of each other, because they know each other and have communicated their boundaries with each other. New friend does not know that she needs to say what sorts of contact are okay; this leads to some awkwardness where these Well-Mannered Werewolves are trying to be Good Friends and stay out of her space because she obviously does not really like contact while she is trying to figure out if she smells bad or something because they crowd into each others laps all the time but she is excluded.

I get the feeling this will lead to New Friend whining at her aunt that she's not even sure these kids like her so much as tolerate her because she lives next door to the 'leader' of the group. At which point Aunt asks if she's actually said anything to her friends or even initiated contact and Youth will have to admit that no she did not say anything and Aunt will tell her to Use Her Words and Youth will mope back to her room.

She does eventually use her words as well as just hugging her friends sometimes. They get the picture and things get worked out and she is further integrated into the group.

I'm still worldbuilding. Which apparently looks like me writing a bunch of shorts/scenes that explain why people act the way they do.

Because of course the small group of Teens will notice their friend with a New Person and wait to be waved over to meet New Person. And of course they don't surround/swarm New Person, that's rude and also a great way to trigger a fight/flight response in a werewolf. Also of course they would invite New Person to hang out later that day when they're planning on Loafing Around The Back Garden which will include someone bringing an instrument (possibly more than one person with more than one instrument) and someone bringing something to read aloud (probably poetry, Britt's going through A Phase) and several people bringing frisbees/balls/portable games to enjoy as a group. Because they're werewolves who basically react to a new person as well-mannered dogs do: "new person! be friend? pls be friend?" Because they were brought up right. :P
