still here. still queer.
Come out if you feel like it. Don't come out if you don't want to or don't feel safe to.
If you want/need a queer auntie, I'm available. You want questionable advice? How about tips on how to mix drinks? I gotchu.

Date: 2019-10-13 04:40 pm (UTC)The answer is that it really depends on how sensitive you are to the taste/burn of alcohol. If you are one of those people who can tell when a tablespoon of sherry has been added to a whole pot of stew, I may not have solutions for you. If, however, you just don't particularly like knowing you're drinking booze, I may have some suggestions.
I'd recommend you away from alcohols that have naturally strong flavors by themselves such as gin, rum, and whiskeys. Which gets you down to vodka, mainly. At that point, go for a higher shelf than the Taaka. (It comes in a plastic bottle, I have had plenty when I was broke as heck, it's just shit vodka.)
Specific vodka drinks that might not taste like ALCOHOL! are things where the mixer has acidity to mask the burn. Like vodka cranberry. It's a classic for a reason. Same with screwdrivers (vodka and orange juice). Vodka soda (unflavored fizzy water specifically, not cola) with lime, as well as vodka tonics with lime, tend to not taste so much like alcohol. Again, higher shelf vodkas will have less of the alcohol burn, but they're also typically stronger. Know your limits, be safe.
If those still aren't to your taste, there really are a lot of mocktails that look like booze drinks and taste great! We've come a long way from Shirley Temples being your only option. I am a simple bean and tend to go for a juice fizz (whatever juice mixed with seltzer), but there are many options out there and most bartenders are willing to make something or learn.
I hope this was helpful. :)
