I have a timeline for the big move! It's significantly longer than I was initially planning, with the move itself not likely to happen until Januaryish. This is not a bad thing. I have more time to deal with bureaucratic bullshittery and to downsize my stuff. 'Please allow 6-8 weeks' for paperwork, y'know? And I have a ton of stuff to go through and get rid of. Clothes, books, movies, an entire gaming system, all getting out of my house. As we get closer, I'll need to coordinate with partner and her partner to clarify what furniture I'm bringing (probably not the couch, probably yes the washer and dryer) so I can decide if I'm donating or attempting to sell.
Up first: the eye exam and new prescription! The appointment is set April 13.
Second: driver's license renewal, including driving test (don't wait until your license has expired before you renew, it's a huge pain in the ass) Appointment to be set once I have correct glasses on my face.
After that: donating, tossing, and generally downsizing. Which I've half-assedly started with clothing. The books/movies/games are on hold until I have my new license because Half Price Books will give me at least some money for a massive haul over there. Quantity does have a quality all its own, yeah?
I also need to update my wardrobe into things I will actually wear and might be weather-appropriate for Pennsylvania. More jeans for sure, but also office clothes I do not hate and that do not send me into dissociation. Wouldn't that be neat? Which is, of course, expensive, but now that I have a longer timeline I might actually be able to accomplish.
The overall theme will be 'go slow, don't burn out' but I do have concerns about lollygagging.
