Navy sweater blob continues. I've knit at least one round every day this week. And typically more than one round. I'm not terribly close to the interesting bits, but I did have a good look at the pattern last night and had to really think about things.

There are instructions for a women's version and a men's version of the same sweater that should yield the same chest measurement, but have slightly different cable patterns(??) and different lengths of body and sleeve. I get the body/sleeve length differences, but why different cable patterns? Why does the women's version twist right and the men's twist left? Just to further differentiate between the two? Is there some cultural reason women's cables twist a different direction, the same way it's cultural nonsense that has men's and women's shirts buttoning on different sides?

Definitely going with the women's sizing in body and sleeve, but using the men's cable/button pattern so it buttons on the side I want it to. (henley placket!!) Again, the stitch count for the rounds is the same. I checked last night and again this morning just in case I'd read it wrong.
