a weekend happened
Dec. 10th, 2018 09:44 amI made pies with my dad on Saturday instead of on the 22nd! Mostly because sisterJ is lonely and empty-nested(?) since eldest nibling has been at their first semester of college and Dad invited her along. It was a really good day! Dad and I baked pies, sister and stepmom made gingerbread houses, Dad and I watched Secondhand Lions later in the afternoon. Of note: peach pie filling is only okay; it gets the job done but it's not as good as homemade pie filling. Did not deter me from having breakfast pie on Sunday, though.
Sunday was a lot of chores, including bread baking, but also a lot of FF12. And then sister-in-lawJ called and offered their newest guest room to me for the Christmas break if I could get down there. For context, this room was her mother's from the time they moved in ~10 years ago until her mother passed this spring. Having anyone in that room is a big deal for her. I really want to spend Christmas with Eldest Brother, too. But my old car is unlikely to make the trip there (Corpus Christi) and back again, so I'm workshopping some ideas. I'm sure I'll update y'all on the final decision.
2018 has been a shitty year and I would like to close it out surrounded by family, not alone in my apartment. That's how I started 2018 and I'd really prefer to try to start 2019 in a slightly less shitty way. Let's see what I can do to make that happen, hey?
